2015 • Tuckaway
In the summer of 2015, Thomas and Tina Barry fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing a small mountain cabin in Colorado. The cabin was named Tuckaway of the Rockies, inspired by the Barry family’s original “Tuck-a-Way,” a hand-built cabin in Canada constructed by Thomas’s great-grandfather, where Thomas spent his childhood summers surrounded by nature, family, and tradition.
For Thomas and Tina, this cabin was never just a property. It was a place to slow down, reconnect, and create lasting memories with the people who mattered most. It embodied everything they valued about home: warmth, comfort, design, and togetherness. Without realizing it at the time, Tuckaway would quietly become the foundation of something far bigger.
2016 • A New Little One, and the Beginning of Hosting
In the spring of 2016, the Barrys welcomed their second daughter, Aven Grace, into the world. With a three-year-old Ella and a newborn at home, their time at the cabin became more limited. Rather than leaving it empty, they decided to share Tuckaway with guests on Airbnb during the weekends they were not using it.
What began as a simple decision quickly became a revelation.
Guests did not just enjoy staying at Tuckaway, they felt something. The thoughtful design, the comfort, the small details, and the genuine care that went into preparing the home created a true “home away from home” experience. Reviews poured in. Guests returned. Word spread.
Thomas and Tina discovered that hosting, when done from the heart, was not transactional. It was transformational.

A Foundation Built at Sea and in Estates
Long before HFTH existed, Thomas had spent over a decade as a superyacht captain, traveling the world and serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families at the highest levels of luxury hospitality. He later went on to manage private estates, overseeing complex properties, staff, and operations with precision, discretion, and care.
These experiences shaped HFTH in profound ways. Yachting and estate management are not about property. They are about service, anticipation, trust, and stewardship. They are about creating environments where people feel deeply cared for without ever needing to ask.
HFTH would be built on these same principles.
2020 • Hosting from the Heart Expands
As guests continued to rave about their experiences, other vacation homeowners took notice. Requests to join the HFTH portfolio began to arrive organically, driven by results, reputation, and referrals.
Thomas and Tina realized that what began as a family side project had become something more. There was a growing demand for a new standard of short-term rental management, one rooted in hospitality rather than volume, care rather than scale.
In 2020, Hosting from the Heart hired its first full-time team member dedicated solely to guest experience. This marked a pivotal moment, transforming HFTH from a passion project into a purpose-driven company.
2026 • Colorado’s Premier Luxury Portfolio
Today, Hosting from the Heart has grown into Colorado’s premier luxury portfolio of homes, managing 30+ exceptional properties across the state. Each home is curated, cared for, and operated with the same intention as that very first family cabin.
HFTH does not strive to be the biggest. It strives to be the best.
